My second RM Sotheby’s photoshoot included driving out to Waxahachie, Texas with a great friend of mine to shoot four beautiful vehicles.

One of the cars included a car I had never seen in person before, a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger MK 1A Custom.

DID YOU KNOW?
These cars were built by British Rootes Group, designed with help by Carroll Shelby (American car designer and racecar driver). Shelby developed a similar V8 conversion on his AC Cobra, hoping to also produce the Tiger locally in the US. Instead, they were produced in England and paid Shelby a royalty on each Tiger produced.

This Sunbeam Tiger is equipped with a 426 hp, 347 cu. in. V-8 engine with Mallory electronic ignition.

Below includes the write up RM Sotheby’s did on the vehicle:

- One of 2,706 Mk 1A Tigers built
- Stunning restomod; Competition Yellow with a black convertible top and refinished brightwork
- 426 hp, 347 cu. in. V-8 engine with Mallory electronic ignition
- Tremec five-speed manual transmission
- Custom dressed engine bay
- Magnaflow Performance dual exhaust
- Upgraded with Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes
- Rides on American Racing wheels
- Equipped with roll bar, modern bolstered seats, and padded armrest
- Interior features burlwood dash with Daytona Instruments
- Beautifully finished trunk with mounted gel battery

The Tiger sold for $60,500.
